SketchBetter is a body of ink based drawings focused on calming the mind and resting in the present moment. By creating large artworks using only a black pen on white paper simplifies the palette of options on offer to the artist and using repeated patterns allows the creative mind the pause to connect with physical and emotional feelings and emotions in the present moment.

BBC 1 Sunday Morning Live

An interview and feature on BBC1's Sunday Morning Live, showcasing activities designed to encourage children to express themselves.
BBC1's Sunday Morning Live programme ran a feature on the Action for Children report Choose Childhood, published in July 2019, which stated how many people believe childhood is getting more stressful. I was invited to speak about my work and illustrate practical activities designed to alleviate children’s anxiety, increase resilience and make them more confident.
Whilst I was interviewed, one group of children performed Dancing in Charcoal - a large-scale drawing activity inspired by contemporary artist and dancer, Heather Hansen. I use this activity to teach children about slow, mindful and purposeful movement. A second group of children demonstrated Story Spheres, a smaller-scale activity involving identifying and drawing one's present moment feelings.
