SketchBetter is a body of ink based drawings focused on calming the mind and resting in the present moment. By creating large artworks using only a black pen on white paper simplifies the palette of options on offer to the artist and using repeated patterns allows the creative mind the pause to connect with physical and emotional feelings and emotions in the present moment.

A Menagerie of Beasts, July 2017

A sculptural art project, celebrating the Spanish artist Joan Miró - culminating in an exhibition of 18 colourful beasts, designed and made by 60 school children.
A Menagerie of Beasts was a collaboration with artist Michelle Hazell, designer Helen Coyston and the year 3 staff and children at Alexandra School in Kingston. Working with over sixty 7-8 year old students, we spent a summer term learning all about Spanish artist Joan Miró and in teams guided the children to design and make 18 beastly creatures, inspired by his art and sculptural work. The creatures are made entirely of recycled materials that the children brought in from home and each beast has its own name and set of characteristics!

The final Menagerie of Beasts was exhibited at the Rose Theatre on specifically designed chairs and objects inspired by Miro's work.
